"Vorsprung durch Technik",
the tagline associated with Audi could not be more deftly used. "Advancement
through Technology" is a phrase that describes the Audi ethos perfectly.
From the introduction of the massively successful Quattro in 1980, Audi
have always pushed the levels of innovation to the limits.
In fact, the desire to innovate
has not been limited to the cars themselves but also features strongly
in the development of environmentally friendly operations. Recycling
and reutilization are considered key factors in the production of all
Audi cars. One of the most important forms of recycling used by Audi
is the introduction of The Audi Reconditioned Parts scheme. The scheme
takes worn component parts and rebuilds them so they can be sold as
spare parts with a full guarantee from Audi. Audi’s persistence
with looking to the future can be characterized by the inclusion of
the concept car used in the 2004 blockbuster I, Robot starring Will
Smith. In partnership with Shell, the company has also invested heavily
in a fuel for the future: SynFuel. SynFuel is a synthetic fuel with
similar properties to traditional diesel and petrol which produces up
to 93% less carbon monoxide emissions. SynFuel can now be used in any
new diesel Audi without any modifications. Audi has been almost wholly
owned (99.7%) by Volkswagen AG since 1964.
